YOUR SRD SHOP PURCHASE

  • Every wooden board is unique, this is the beauty and story of wood. We hand select each board and with sanding, oiling, and sealing it comes to life.

  • All products are designed and made by hand by myself and my husband in our New Mexican workshop.

  • If you purchased a wooden tool, it is protected and sealed with a blend of mineral oil and organic beeswax. Start chopping! It is ready to use.

  • If you purchased cloth, the products listed as vintage, are either one of a kind or limited in number. They are re-designed or re-fabricated materials, given a new life to delight yours.

  • The table linens are designed and made by me. I source fabric from all over the world, supporting weavers and their craft. The raw material is transformed into a piece for your next gathering.

WASHING WOOD

  • If possible minimize the use of strong soaps and detergents. Like a cast iron skillet, excessive soap will dry out the wood.

  • Wash gently and stand on its side to dry. Avoid soaking or standing in water.

WASHING CLOTH

  • We recommend for the silk, cotton, and linen blends, unless otherwise specified, to wash in cool water on the gentle to normal mode. Gently hand washing in the tub in cold is even better. I highly recommend to hang dry and not wring the fabric.

  • For the scarf collection, hand wash with a mild detergent in cool water. Avoid wringing dry. After final rinse, simply hang allowing it to drip dry. Wrinkles will naturally not appear as it was allowed to dry by its own weight. (make a small line in your shower or bath)

MAINTAINING WOOD

  • Care for your wooden tools by oiling them regularly. Use mineral oil or other food grade oil.

  • Olive oil and/or walnut oil are equally effective but will make the surface slightly tacky. It is purely an aesthetic thing, so if you prefer to use these oils, go for it. I use an old towel which I dedicate to oil. After oiling, put in a coffee, tea, or some type of air tight tin and use it more than once.

  • Thinner oils, such as mineral oil, will penetrate easier.

  • Have an oiling party. Turn on some music and pull out the wooden spoons, boards, etc. Oil them and let the stand over night. It’s good practice to repeat every few months. Well, at least for us here in the desert.

MAINTAINING CLOTH

  • Wash and set the table for you, you and your beloved, or invite some folks over.

  • Tie, drape, and wear. Make it pop. Make it beautiful. Surround yourself with beauty.
